Happy Birthday to my Handsome One!

The Boy has turned 7 years old!

I worked very hard to make him a unique cake this year. On my own, no help, and from scratch. I used fondant, edible cake markers, spray and lustre dust. I made Him his Rainbow Trout cake!
I was so proud of myself. I know I know, get off that cloud, but really, I accomplished something that I really truly thought I would mess up.

It took me 2 hours of baking, 2 hours of decorating. I just love how it turned out!

Cake Boss...here I come!

Trick Sparkler Candles
He chose a Swimming Party at a local indoor pool.
Most of the kids he invited came, which thrilled him.
His most treasured gift is the RC Boat I had gotten him. We took it out today to practice driving it around the lake, which started out rather terribly. I hadn't had time to tell him to turn it on before he ran down the bank and put the boat in the water, OFF, and gave it a push. Before I could get close enough it had floated out halftway into the small of the lake. I was speechless & helpless!
We waited for the wind to blow it slowly to the opposite edge, so that I could reach in with a twig and pull it back to me. It took awhile, but once we got it back, I explained he had to make sure it was on before he put it in the water.
He drove it for quite awhile, and said it was 'the best present ever!' I just adore that Boy!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANDSOME!

A Princess Party & An Egg Hunt

Having the boys birthday so close to mine, and so shortly after christmas was overload in and of itself. But, having Lulu's birthday day before easter this year, well, THAT IS OVERLOAD!

This child was anything but cooperative over the last 2 days.

My home is full of little beasts. BEASTS! Thanks to all the sugar! Lulu was found yesterday hiding in a corner of her room, eating all of the chocolate she could smash into her mouth. When D opened her door, she yelled out, "NO! Go out, I'm playin'!" Yeah, right...the ring of chocolate around her mouth told a much different story. Seems to be it might be an annual thing for this little lady...just look at her telling Momma off in the camera at the mere age of 1 while eating her 1st chocolate bunny, lol.

That boy seemed to think the easter egg hung was a special event reserved for his high-ness. With every egg that Monkey Girl or Lulu found, that boy screamed in terror! "Look at me! I don't have anyfing!" or "NOOOOOO! That was mine!" It never failed.

Not only would Lulu not allow me to put her easter dress on her, she insisted on wearing her new princess nightgown all day long. ( THANKS MEL!) Even out in the wetness, rubber boots and all, to hunt for eggs. Hair wild, no pretties! She was big fat ball of FIRE!

I was the host, or rather hostess this easter, and spent pretty much all of my day in the kitchen. Don't get me wrong, I loved making dinner for everyone, trying some new things. But, it just baffles me at how you can spend a whole day cooking, only to serve and be done with the meal within 30 minutes, kids, I'll give them 5 minutes, and then be off to clear the table and wash dishes...remaining IN THE KITCHEN. Not my idea of a grand 'ol time. But, dinner was very good, and I think everyone enjoyed it. I cooked a ham coated in brown sugar, citrus roasted asparagus, maple glazed new potatoes, and some very yummy orange-raisin bread from scratch.

We ended the afternoon playing with a balloon. WHAT? Yeah, kids blew up a balloon, and we all ended up somehow gathered in the living room tossing a balloon around. EVERYONE! Kids loved this. Especially the boy, and Lulu...after she finished with one of her many tantrums.

Why does a holiday always bring out the worst in a child???

Now, I am cursing at the skies for the torrents of rain all day yesterday, only to have had beautiful
blue skies with bright shining sun the day before, and, you guessed it... TODAY!

A Pizza Party 4 My Handsome One!

Friday night we had that boy's birthday party at a pizza parlor. Little did I recall, on Friday nights they have a clown doing free face painting. She does a great job! Leah, Drew, and thier cousin Jayd did it. Leah wanted to be a fairy girl. The boys would not do it!
One boy that was there had his face painted as spider man, it was so cute. He ran up to Beau and Leah to pretend he was spider man, and Leah started screaming and hiding from him. Beau was playing an arcade shooting game, then he pointed the gun at the boy and said, "Get away from her!" D got on to that boy right quick! That was NOT okay!
Beau was so very happy that his cousin Ace was able to come (Thanks for coming Melly Mel :) ), they took off and had a blast running around, playing together! I wish they could play more often...
He received a very fun electronic game, called Wild West GunSlinger. There is this fake log that has 4 pins you push in, then you set these plastic cans/bottles on top, 2 are broke in half already. Then he shoots his cowboy gun, and the laser triggers the pins to pop up, causing the 'cans' to pop up into the air, the broken ones pop in half. It's so fun!

He loved his vtech kidizoom camera, as do all the other kids, I will upload some pics he took on his own, he figured it out really quick! He is soooo excited to be going to Monster Jam with Daddy! He also received a bike, a Tonka Monster Trucks computer game where you design your own monster truck & track then race your monster truck. Ace got him a motorcycle toy that works by winding it up with his feet, which he has now mastered! And he also received, a very fun electronic basketball game, Slam Dunk Shootout.
The cake was a hit. I made chocolate buttercream icing from scratch, very yummy! I used candy chocolate rocks for the trim on the cake, and chocolate graham cracker crumbs for 'dirt'. I tried to make it look messy, like truck tracks, not so successful, but he loved his cake none-the-less. And, what's a birthday party without a melt down? Little Lulu insisted one specific gift was hers. Clip in video, she was a brat!!! (working on the attitude...she loves to say "nananana")

I didn't make out so bad either...

My Daddy got me some Food Network spatula's I have been eye-ing. RED! I love them! Go great with my red Typhoon colander! THANKYOU DADDY!

D got my much desired electric blanket! It is my favorite thing right now! And, my MIL gave me some cash to place toward a new scrub uniform. I have been debating on this one...

LOVE LOVE LOVE the brown/aqua color combo!!!

Happy Birthday Gracie!

Grace is now officially the big 1-2! I cannot believe that so much time has passed. She is making me sooo OLD! She had a couple friends sleep over out in the trailer, and Darrin and I tried to play a trick on them. He hid with a mask on in the dark, I tried to lure them out of the trailer, but it didn't work, so he knocked on the trailer door, and for the 3rd time, they thought it was me, so they opened it and fell back screaming, and hitting Darrin trying to take the mask off. Good enough I guess. I was hoping to get footage of them running screaming in the yard back to the trailer, no such luck.
On Friday, I must brag, she joined in the Relay for Life, and walked 44 laps with my sister. They lit a luminary in loving memory of our deceased Grandmother, GEORGIA MAE MCCLAIN, she died of lung cancer when I was 12. This is who Gracie gets her middle name, MAE from. I am proud that she did this. Not many 12 year old kids would.
Today I took Grace for a haircut. She wanted it layered, shorter, and once she got it done, I could not believe it! She does not look 12 at all. Heaven help me!
Here are some photos from the party, and some silliness of Grace, 'dancing' being her overdramatic, attention-craving self...and I HATE THE SONG SHE'S PLAYING. She knows this, and this is why she played it!
